Cottonwood Update #12: Filming in Mankato
This past weekend we had the opportunity to film in Mankato at the Happy Chef and a couple of other locations outside of Mankato. It is always fun bringing film productions to different towns. Mankato is only about an hour from Windom, so it was not far, but still great to travel with the cast and crew and meet new people along the way. Everyone at the Happy Chef was amazing to us and I really need to thank Adrian, Brady, Rebekah, Barry, Vicki, and Colleen for making this all work. Without them this would never have happened.
The Mankato Free Press came down to the Happy Chef while we were filming and interviewed me and some of the cast for an article. We were featured in this past Sunday Paper. Thanks to Brian and Jackson for coming down and doing a great article on me and the film. Read the full article here.
It was a very late night of filming. After we got done at the Happy Chef we went to the Mall and did a scene and then proceeded to drive past Mankato to an abandoned restaurant for more scenes. The bugs in this place were terrible. Everyone was getting eaten alive by them. It is extremely hard to focus when you are getting attacked by bugs, sweating from having to wear a sweatshirt in 80 degree weather because of the bugs, and on a time crunch because it is already 2 AM. Nevertheless, we were able to get all of the restaurant and cave scenes filmed and back in Windom by 5 AM. It was a long and stressful night of filming, but we shot some amazing stuff. Check out some photos from the night below.
We have more filming to do in July and so the updates will continue to come. Stay tuned!
